Rosalind T. Styles
Rosalind T. Styles is a Black woman born and raised in the Anacostia Section of Washington, DC (Ward 8). She has over forty (40) years of community-based, federal, local and private industry administrative and management experience in Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia. Her professional career has encompassed the management of human resources, community development and affirmative action programs geared toward enhancing economic development opportunities for local and minority residents and businesses. She currently serves as a consultant through By Styles & Associates, LLC, an Independent Contractor, where she designs and implements customized community outreach and training programs, workshops, special events and other consultant services to assist local and minority businesses, organizations and residents to be competitive or recognized in the community or professional marketplace.
The past 19 years, she has served as the President of the National Association of Minority Contractors—Washington, DC Metropolitan Area Chapter (NAMC-WMAC)., She serves as Manager of the Jobs Not Guns Initiative, and creator of Jobs Not Drugs Initiative both are designed to assist in CREATING JOBS and BUILDING CAREERS! by providing a platform for potential employers, job training/apprenticeship programs, and supportive service programs working with elected officials, federal and local agencies and community stakeholders to collectively build a strong job-ready workforce that will lead to a systematic decrease in the number of perpetrators and victims of gun violence and drugs in the Nation’s Capital.

Ms. Styles retired after twenty-five years as President & CEO of Capitol City Associates, Inc., MBE, CBE and WBE certified in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia; specializing in construction management services and maximizing public engagement on economic development initiatives. Her projects included the modernization and/or construction of over 100 DCs Public School and Recreation Center projects; over 20 Federal and District buildings, roads and bridges projects including Prince George’s County, MD.
District Department of Employment Services
Her career included serving as a Personnel Officer at the US Peace Corp, in Third World countries, as Employment Specialist at the District Department of Employment Services and a Supportive Services Contractor on the redevelopment of two distressed public housing properties, Henson Ridge, for the DC Housing Authority through a HUD HOPE VI Grant.
Ms. Styles
served as Mayor Marion Barry’s Deputy Director of Inaugural Committee and Director of Transition and currently serves as a member of the Mayor Barry Legacy Foundation.
Black Bridal Expo
She owned and operated an event marketing and professional services company, Styles Wedding Service for over twenty years and produced the first-of-its-kind Black Bridal Expo designed to provide minority vendors to prospective brides and expand their business in the lucrative bridal industry.

She has received numerous awards and accolades in honor of her distinguished public service from the United States Congress, the Mayor of the District of Columbia, Council of the District of Columbia, Governor of Maryland, the Democratic State Committee, the Smithsonian Institution, major corporations and various community groups. Ms. Styles closed her corporate office in order for herself and her staff to serve as volunteers at the September 11th Pentagon Disaster Relief Effort.

The National Association of Minority Contractors—Washington, DC Metropolitan Area Chapter (NAMC-WMAC) was formed in February 2005. A non-profit 501©(6) tax-exempt membership organization governed by a Board of Directors; the President manages its day-to-day operation. NAMC-WMAC’s service area encompasses Washington, DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in Maryland and Northern Virginia. NAMC-WMAC has as its focus “A Commitment to Diversity.”
